Doing the Laundry. With Skill

It's a day late but here is the photo for all the honeys. It was fairly well received from my friends of both genders. 

Shot this in the morning despite dull weather yesterday, came up with the idea the night before because I had no plans for any Devastatingly romantic comedy/ies for Feb 14 this year. 

It took about an hour to do my laundry that day. took like 70-100 snaps from a dining room chair with my GH2 resting on a packet of Tom Yum soup seasoning and a kitchen Knife, (I left my tripod at a mate's) this was the pick.

Concept was inspired by a book I came across years ago called Porn For Women (2008). A satirical Photo book of full grown men doing household stuff, suggesting what might make women hot with reliable marriageable behavior. I took a step backwards into more juvenile bachelor territory and gave it a spin with the flavor only Jack can deliver...

Something fun, mischievous, lighthearted, helpful, positive, masculine and dexterous with that touch of feminine energy, I wanted to do something to push and defy myself a bit, by doing this shoot and offering it to everyone (who I belong to) made my day.

The colours are coincidental, and realise that it does have a nice range. I was actually running out of clean underpants the set up was impromptu, the underpants on the floor was originally baby blue (real red one was inside washer already). I didn't think so much about colours setting up so I Photo-shopped it blood red cause you need red this day. Talking about colours, it does have rainbow appeal and I am teasing the pink market as well who's scared. 

I didn't go back and look up the book up until now, so didn't come up with a tag line like the ones in the book (Which I don't have mind you), but even now I can't come up with one. I might try turn it into a washing machine print ad or something later. Of course out of the unreleased possibly deleted 69-99 photos there were some more naughtier ones, but I'm honestly not ready to push that character yet. 

On a learning note after the shoot I went out and was actually very happy to see couples, people walking hand in hand, making out in public and holding flowers. I thought I was going mad, but for that hour I managed to break the cycle and turn the tables and be happy for everyone unafraid to perform their affections on this day. And then there are the single people looking around to be more aware of other people in general (looking for love?) and finally the people who are waiting around in train stations for their date for what seems to be forever, that's the drama I enjoyed seeing the most. I met up with some friends last night, one of them called my shoot narcissistic (although she did like it), and it is somewhat, but I believe it has a degree of vulnerability that I had to overcome to get it out there, don't think I ever had a photo in my underpants before. We also talked and I learned about the 5 languages of love, Touch, actions, materials, time and words. It's a nice breakdown and I never thought about it but I will have to sit down and decide what I prioritize in receiving and what I am best at giving. Unfortunately a sense of humor sharp enough to cut the air she breathes does not do much for her confidence in me.
