UnShave, Hard Candy & My Point of Entry![]() Take a Seat on my Barber chair. Site Updates Font changes, updated Banner gallery, added stage walking photo in photos. Also in the process of amalgamating Headlines and blog page, also coming soon is Voice samples page. Blog Update Yes, I know that title is an innuendo, part of being me. This entry features me as lead in a Student film, a Cameo in a SG TV series and an on going gig I got as an Gin Obsessed barber at the Airport departure hall last month in October. (have you not noticed I get up to the strangest things?) Basically a Promo job like how I used to do in Syd but this did demand a bit more as I was to put on an old English accent and talk about my 2 passions of Hendrick's Gin and Unshaving people. The Selection process/training was overly pedantic I had to perform the audition piece 2 times at least at several locations, 2 for the first round at the agency, another 2 on another day in costume for the colleagues, another 2 for the client, another 2 for the client's client, and another 2 for the client again, and then there was 2 training sessions about personal presentation and product knowledge. I must say the personal presentation Trainer was incredible though giving all the best tips and keeping it engaging and professional. Job scope involved enticing people to try the Gin, prepare and serve it, talk to people about their holiday/trip and apply on them a self adhesive Mustache and snap photos. Easy enough because a lot of the people who fly by happen to be Aussie and Euros who are damn happy to interact and drink sample Alcohol. while I am paired with a normal brand ambassador, I am supposed to focus on being a Barber and not do any selling, but since I am performing, it kinda dwarfs the presence of my "Assistant" and I often lead into the selling, which I do fine. Still have another 10 shifts in December, one of them is Christmas. Yes another Sacrifice I can make for my craft. Performance Rating 7/10 I have to perform for a porous 4 hours each shift and I am licensed to be the center of attention in the shop, this I deliver. The Old English accent could be more consistent, don't drop it for the sake of speaking to fellow Aussie and swing to Singlish for your co-workers. My entry into Point on entry was rather good, I got a 35 second tracking dialogue scene that looked rather sweet with mirrors and stuff. unfortunately my Lapel pack clip was showing at my ass. They also used my Talent headshot photo as the suspect profile image, which is just Lolsome. Point of entry is one of the More successful Singapore programs and I got to be in the Session 3 debut episode! The story does seem very good on paper (I did get the script), although the delivery does leave room for improvement, because of the flurry of accents and acting qualities, but that's the Magic of Singapore Productions and it's more apparent racial harmony. This was the Gig I did before I flew out and then back into Singapore to do. Performance Rating 7.5/10 I think my singlish was passable, but that was at the cost of my performance, I could have been so much more into describing this underage prostitute (who I never saw btw). Finally the Release of the Hard Candy Scene Exercise I mentioned before. This was an assignment for directing students (I actually landed 3 of them), I was a photographer who often touches his models (or so I wished). In this case a young one, but things don't go as expected. (I prefer the Title of Cradle Snatcher rather than the other one mind you.) Hard Candy (Remake) from Muhamad Yazid on Vimeo. Performance Rating 8.5/10
I got to keep my accent so that made it a bit easier, I caused a number of continuity issues and some lines could be stronger. Anyway, I apparently Landed another 2 student films and things are Likely to be clashing. also I seem to have caught Hay fever, and have been sniffing and blowing all day, hopefully I get better tonight before my next barber shift.
