Biting RealitiesWhat's up Doc?In this entry I announce another Cameo appearance tomorrow/essentially tonight! watch the Program Testube on CH 5 at 11pm for the Pilot show "Reality Bytez" it's about a girl who for the sake of this blurb I will say has Mutant powers to augment herself into different realities, BUT more importantly in this pilot episode into one where I am a Japanese General with fierce Authority issues with her. That's Ch5 - 4 Apr 2013, at 11pm. Read my Dirt after the jump... Shot 2 months ago in an old old abandoned hospital in some hard to reach place and also an underground school storage/bomb shelter (yes we have to keep our kids/future safe if when war happens) which was to be an underground holding cell. Call times were early, conditions were tough with heat damp and dusty environments causing the obligatory passing out on set. I actually had a lot of lines, being terrible in Japanese, barely studying it before in the 7th grade (not learning a lick from Anime), and even though I was given the script like 2 days ahead in romanization (Japanese spelt in phonetic english) there was no way I would be able to deliver with proper enunciation and do justice to the bold concept. So what I ended up doing was pretty much shouting what felt like jibberish meaninglessly in my head but keeping my physicality as aggressively as I could. Japanese is damn hard with things like six syllable words without much spaces between words, it was intense. I was speaking in tongues and breaking some serious sweat in the harsh filming conditions. I would have gave the editor some serious headaches. The Audition was a little odd, being in a public library mainly due to the nature of it being a kinda pilot budget (explained below), and I was actually going for a role of a student or.. something, they were after a fierce performance and I delivered probably beyond a student capacity. The Crew was dedicated and most of the cast were newcomers, it was working with great passion again and I did feel like I forced that Delivery. Performance Rating: 6.5/10 Could have done some serious japanese study for the several lines I had, better linguistical memory would have helped. Perhaps also do more research on Japanese superior soldier. Now about this Testube programme... Here is a link to an older episode:
http://video.xin.msn.com/watch/video/testube-sr-2-episode-4/1tqrd4pmj I did know I was shooting a pilot episode for a series called Reality Bitez but I did not know it was going to go under the public/live scrutiny of Testube, and while I do feel a bit mislead, the producers do have the right of confidentiality. This show presents tv series concepts to a live audience and then gathers interests comments and questions from the audience, the filmmakers also gives notes on their productions. In the end there is some sort of grant given by the network to produce the series it's like SBS Insight meets dragon's den for filmmakers or a live kickstarter/fundbreak/indiegogo show at 11pm for the film buff night owls, it's a brilliant concept! I assume it's damn popular because it's on to it's 3rd season and is on 4 channels in their respective language versions: English, Malaysian, Chinese and Indian/Tamil (Singapore caters to most of it's native races) that is a lot of creative and multicultural equal opportunity. I will need to find out what it takes to get a slot in the program, the next step is to Vote for your favorite Program via social media. SO WHATCHA WAITING FOR!?
